Towns, Cities, Villages and Hamlets

There are many descriptions around which show the towns, cities and parishes within Cambridgeshire. This section describes some of these sites and provides links to them while acknowledging that these are separate entities usually maintained by volunteers but serving the internet community. These pages are designed to compliment, not replace, those pages.

GENUKI

The towns and parishes within Cambridgeshire and the Isle of Ely have been well documented by GENUKI, a volunteer organisation who have created a virtual reference library. GENUKI stands for GENealogy United Kingdom and Ireland. If you are researching family history then this site should be a boon to you.

GENWEB

The Rootsweb genealogy server serves the whole of the world. Originally a voluntary body they were forced to merge with Ancestry.com to continue their good work. There is a World Genweb project of which the British Isles project is part and the England Genweb project is part of the British Isles section. Cambridgeshire is represented here and there is much information to be gleaned about Cambridgeshire.

Given these two sites there is still plenty of information about the various towns, cities and villages not documented. This alphabetical index will allow quick access to the various towns and villages as information is deposited.
